Help a single mom get her degree!

Disadvantaged single moms and their children have very few options. The poverty rate for single-mother families in 2020 was 23.4%, nearly five times more than the rate (4.7%) for married-couple families.

Single mothers historically are not able to attain a college degree. Just 31% of single mothers ages 25 and older held a bachelor’s degree or higher, compared with 54% of comparable married mothers and 40% of comparable women overall. Once enrolled, single mothers are much less likely than married mothers and women without children to complete college, citing lack of money and time as barriers to completion. Only 28% of single mothers who enter college earned a degree or certificate within 6 years, compared with 40% of married mothers, and 57% of women students who were not parenting.

SCHOLAR HOUSE CHANGES ALL OF THAT.

An education program that provides 360°of support, Scholar House gives a mom seeking her degree housing, coordinated childcare, a mentor, an academic coach, and help obtaining scholarships and financial aid.

Scholar House staff are there for our moms and their children in every way, providing them with comprehensive, holistic continuum of care that meets them where they are and empowers them toward their educational, career and family goals. We work to remove all the barriers possible so moms can focus on their education, family, and future.
